The Insulin Bank of Sri Lanka [IB] was inaugurated in 1998 on World Diabetes Day to help needy Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus children to receive the best insulin and care. At present we over 500 children and adolescents registered from all over the country referred by medical officers both in the government and private sector.
The concept of the Insulin Bank is to provide care free of charge to registrants with the best quality human insulin, annual and monthly assessments, provision of home glucose monitoring systems where possible and psychological counseling.
The mission of the Insulin Bank is to improve the quality of life of the participants and help them become productive members of the community.
