The DASL is a non profit organization with its headquarters at National Diabetes Centre (NDC) 50, Sarana Mawatha Rajagiriya. It is the only organization in Sri Lanka committed to serve the diabetic fraternity of the country through primary and secondary prevention, education, awareness and advocacy.
The DASL was founded in 1984 and established its own centre of excellence in 1995 at the NDC. It is registered in Parliament by act no: 1 of 1992, with the Ministry of Finance as a Charitable organisation (Inland Revenue Act No: 28 of 1979) and Ministry of social service (Act No:31 of 1980) All donations made to the DASL are tax free to the donor.
It is affiliated to the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and houses the regional office of the South East Asia region of the IDF at the NDC since 2003.
The DASL team consists of committed volunteers and executive staff consisting of Medical Practitioners, health care professionals, researchers and administrative staff who work at the NDC in order to minimize the impact the illness has on the community. |
